Spring is finally here! There are some new animals on the farm, and I’ve been busy getting some new creations ready for the spring and summer show season.
Shuttles on the loom
In addition to our flock of Shetland sheep, we’ve added some Angora goats to the barnyard scene. They will be getting a haircut (sheared) in April so their beautiful mohair fleece can be transformed into lustrous, soft yarn on my spinning wheel.
Some raw materials waiting to be spun on the wheel
Mopsey and Maude the Angora goats enjoying an early spring evening
Wool ready to be spun into yarn
Angora goats produce mohair, as opposed to angora rabbits who produce angora fiber
Ready for spinning
The loom is warped and ready for me to make a new set of runners
The sheep and goats have been getting acquainted. So far, Sophie (the white goat with horns) prefers the company of sheep.
